Kruidvat
is the undisputed market leader in the health
& beauty retail sector in the Netherlands
and one of the best known in Belgium. The
chain currently employs around 8,000 people
and operates over 950 outlets that cater
to the personal needs of over 2 million loyal

Originally a grocery company founded in 1928,
Kruidvat was among the first to open supermarkets
in the Netherlands. The first Kruidvat Health
& Beauty store opened in 1975, establishing
the base for a very successful expansion into
this sophisticated market. Building on its
prescription for prosperity in the Netherlands,
Kruidvat opened for business in Belgium in
1992 where it has been as successful as its
Dutch counterpart with well over 100 stores
now in operation.
Growth has accelerated greatly since the late
90's through new store openings and the relocation
of existing stores to larger, better-situated
locations. The Kruidvat brand is now widely
represented not only in the bustling cities
like Amsterdam and Brussels but also in the
smallest villages.
